National Grid is offering a number of career options for high school/college students. This with the goal to train future employees as they are anticipating a great number of openings in the years to come as their current employees are retiring.

1.       For Juniors: The Engineering Pipeline is for current Juniors who would like to become civil, chemical, mechanical or electrical engineers.

They need to fill out an application before April 15th, 2017.

They must have the following: Strong desire to become engineers, a minimum 3.0 GPA, strong commitment to work as an intern every summer (they will get paid).

The application requires a teacher recommendation, to answer two questions and to write an essay in a given question/topic.

I will need the studentís names after applying to forward them for priority/preference to the MA Chapter liaison.

2.       For Seniors. They offer tons of different job opportunities.

Students who would like to go straight to work after high school can apply to suitable jobs such as meter readers, who start at $24 an hour. National Grid commits to pay up to 90% of their education if they commit to study/get training later on for any of the positions/jobs they have in a priority list. It works as reimbursement if they pass their courses. Must submit transcript.

Can apply using this link:    https://nationalgrid.taleo.net/careersection/2/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en

3.       For grads (students who are now in college). They offer paid  internships in the summer in the following fields: Accounting and Finance and all the engineering programs mentioned above.

Must have 3.0 GPA. They also have Grad students internships.

Can apply using this link: https://www.nationalgridus.com/Our-Company/Careers/Summer-Internship-Programs

They are trying to encourage girls to apply to non-traditional jobs, from  gas pipeliners to engineering.
